Clear blue skies to start but clouding over around ten,
one short shower of rain. Boats were moving from around 8 am. One yacht passed
as we got the ropes undone and were ready to heave it off the bottom so we had
a short wait then pushed out. Mike winded and we went back to Burgwall to get
some water. There was a gap big enough for us at the restaurant mooring so we
tied there and several German blokes came over to chat. The water tap was a bit
further downriver by a moored Free Camper with a campervan on it. Water was 1€/80 litres. Decided to
stay overnight and Mike went to get the car from Zehdenick 9kms down the road.
On his return Mike started work on the moped, adjusting the automatic clutch
and changing both engine mountings. Later in the afternoon we went out in the
car to locate the supermarket in Fürstenberg and check the opening times (8.00
am). Went on to look for the parking in Himmelpfort and found none (the
cloisters had burned down and now had no roof and the car park behind it had
gone). We looked for the mooring around KP52 on the Havel from the road – the
forest paths were all no entry by vehicle. Gave up and went home. Decided to
eat out – have a meal in the Gästhaus “Zur Fähre” and the mooring was free.
Nice meal, “Schnitzel mit ei und pommes” – breaded veal escalope with fried
egg, salad and chips. The waitress called it Hamburger. It was very nice. We
had a Radeberger beer apiece to go with it. The place was pretty busy for a
Sunday evening, though not so many moored boats as when we arrived this
morning. Back to the boat with a receipt for 19,40€ to stick in the window
(mooring would have been 18€ at 1€ per metre) to show we were patrons of the
Gästhaus.
